RELEASED: JANUARY 2008

After researching the UK valves market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

In 2007 the UK market for valves is believed to have increased by 3% to £668.1 million. This consolidated year-on-year cumulative growth of 9% between 2004 and 2006. Prior to this, demand for valves contracted by 11% in 2003, reflecting the downturn in manufacturing output and business investment.

MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:

MBD believe the UK market for valves will continue to increase during the forecast period, with annual growth rates expected to oscillate between 2% and 6%. Overall, demand for valves is projected to increase by 23% between 2007 and 2012, reaching £824.3 million (at 2007 prices) in the latter year. Demand is expected to be driven by increased process plant investment anticipated in a number of enduse industries, including the water and sewerage sector along with the electricity supply sector.
