RELEASED: JANUARY 2008 After researching the UK thermal insulation market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007: The UK thermal insulation market, including building and industrial insulation, has demonstrated strong growth between 2003 and 2006. However in 2007 growth moderated somewhat to 6%, taking sales to a peak of £1172 million. This partially reflects slower growth in private housing construction. Nonetheless demand increased by a cumulative 34% between 2003 and 2007. Overall market growth has accelerated since 2002, due to changes in the building regulations and government initiatives, such as the EEC programme. The market has mainly been driven by demand for building thermal insulation in recent years, while the development of industrial thermal insulation has been moderate. MARKET FORECAST 2007-2011: The UK market for thermal insulation, including building and industrial insulation, is anticipated to continue to demonstrate strong real term growth during the five year forecast period. However, annual growth rates are expected to moderate somewhat from 6% in 2008 to 3% in 2012, partially reflecting the end of the CERT programme in 2011. In the latter year the value of the market is projected to reach a peak of £1486.4 million (at 2007 prices), representing real term growth of 27% compared with 2007.
