RELEASED: JUNE 2005 After researching the UK public expenditure development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: MARKET REVIEW 2002-2004: Total managed expenditure has increased in each year of the review period between 2000 and 2004 to £455.2 billion, representing an overall increase of some 34% in resource terms. The annual rate of growth has increased in each year rising from just 2% in 2000 to an estimated peak rate of 9% in 2004. The increase in expenditure in recent years is a reflection of the strong UK economy and the increase in public finance’s raised through tax increases. MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009: Growth is anticipated to be a feature of the TME over the five year forecast period ending in 2009. The value of TME is expected to reach £597.7 million in the latter year. The rate of growth is forecast to be between 3% and 7% over the period. However, many believe that growth in public expenditure is most likely to be much slower than that anticipated however, this is subject to both future economic and environmental changes in the short term.
