After researching the UK public expenditure on transport development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2002-2004:

The total TME (total managed expenditure) on services increased by some 32% during the review period to an estimated £436.5 billion for the year 2004. The highest increase, of some 7% was recorded during the latter year of the period, following annual rises of between 6% and 7% during the early part of the decade.

TME on transport is estimated to have been increased by a significant 89% during the review period to some £16.6 billion. Significant annual increases were recorded during the latter part of the period between 2000 and 2004.

MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009:

TME on transport is forecast to increase in each year of the forecast period. Growth is anticipated to be stronger than that expected in total TME on services. By 2009 TME on transport services is £22.7 billion.
