RELEASED: JUNE 2005

After researching the UK public expenditure on health development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2002-2004:

TME on healthcare services alone is believed to have been increased by some 51% during the review period, amounting to an estimated £75 billion in 2004. Despite the significant increase in spending on healthcare, the sector’s share of the total TME on services has risen from 15% to 17.2% during recent years, reflecting the government’s commitment to increasing public spending in line with Labour party heritage.

MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009:

TME on healthcare is also projected to increase in each year of the forecast period to £135 billion in 2009. Overall growth of 22% is anticipated in TME on healthcare services compared with 2004. Growth is expected to be between 6% and 9% over the forecast period. The value of TME on healthcare is estimated to reach £135 billion
