RELEASED: JUNE 2005 After researching the UK public expenditure on education development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: MARKET REVIEW 2002-2004: Strong growth in Total Managed Expenditure (TME) on services have been increased in each year between 2000 and 2004, culminating in an overall increase of 32% in nominal terms. In 2004, TME was recorded at £436.5 billion increased by some 33%. The strongest growth in TME was recorded during 2004 at a rate of 9%. Growth in each year between 2000 and 2003 has varied between 4% and 7% between. TME on education has accounted for an increasing proportion of TME over the review period rising from 13% in 2000 to 14% in 2004. The value of investment spent on education services is estimated to have reached £61 billion in 2004, equivalent to some 14% of Total Managed Expenditure during 2004. Growth on education services has been stronger than that of TME, reflecting the Government’s commitment to improving UK’s education system. This includes refurbishment and maintenance programmes, building new schools, investment on technology, incentives for teachers, and new programmes for alternative learning etc. All of which have led to the increased investment in the education sector. The other main sector which benefits from a significant amount of Government funding is the health sector which is a main competitor for public sector funding. MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009: During the forecast period, the overall TME on services is projected to be increased relatively consistently year-on-year. Although, the annual rate of growth is expected to slow over the forecast period to just 3% and 4%. In 2009, the value of total TME is expected to reach £534.6 billion, representing an overall increase of 22% compared with 2004.
