RELEASED: MARCH 2008 After researching the UK process plant market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: MARKET REVIEW 2002/03-2006/07: In 2006/07, total process plant expenditure increased by an estimated 8% to £8180 million consolidating the trend for growth evident prior to that. Indeed, with the exception of a marginal decline in 2004/05, spending increased year on year during the five year review period ending 2006/07 by a cumulative 20%. MARKET FORECAST 2007/08-2011/12: During the five year forecast period ending 2011/12, the chemicals industry is projected to continue to account for the single largest share of total process plant expenditure, representing between 28% and 30% of total spending. The second largest sector is anticipated to be the food and drinks industry accounting for 23%-24% of total process plant expenditure. Nuclear fuel is anticipated to remain the smallest sector in the UK process plant industry throughout the forecast period. Only two sectors are forecast to decline overall between 2007/08 and 2011/12, namely water and nuclear fuel.
