MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

In 2007, the UK market for plant and tool hire is believed to have increased by 7% to a period peak of £4993 million, consolidating the trend for growth evident throughout the review period. Overall, an increase of 28% is estimated between 2003 and 2007. Demand for plant and tool hire is closely linked to output levels in the overall construction industry as well as to civil engineering and repair & maintenance activity, thus the market follows a similar development to overall construction output.

MARKET FORECAST 2007-2011:

By 2012, the UK plant and tool hire market is anticipated to reach £5861 million (at 2007 prices), equivalent to a real term increase of 17% compared with 2007. Demand in the plant and tool hire market is expected to continue to be driven by a positive development in the construction market, although some strong regional fluctuations are anticipated. For example, in the South East demand for plant and tool hire is anticipated to be boosted by construction activity associated with the 2012 London Olympics.
