UK PACKAGING MACHINERY MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK packaging machinery market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2001-2005:

The UK market for packaging machinery is expected to decline during 2005, albeit at a negligible level, to £428.6 million at MSP. Demand within the industry increased year-on-year between 2001 and 2004, culminating in overall growth of 16% in value terms to a five year peak of £429.4 million during the latter year. Much of the growth during the review period has been buoyed by the continued growth in consumer spending since 2001. However, the delayed impact of interest rate increases during 2004 are expected to slow spending in 2005, resulting in an anticipated negligible decline in sales during the year.

MARKET FORECAST 2006-2010:

The UK market for packaging machinery is forecast to increase year-on-year during the forecast period, although levels of growth are expected to remain modest. Between 2005 and 2010 MBD expect the value of the UK market to increase by 6% in real terms, with annual growth levels not expected to surpass 3%. The forecasted market growth is in part due to the expectation that current trends within the market will continue during the short term future.
