UK MECHANICAL LIFTING & HANDLING EQUIPMENT MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK mechanical lifting & handling equipment market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2002-2007:

During the five year review period up to 2007, the annual developments in the UK market for mechanical lifting and handling equipment have fluctuated. In the current year the value of the market is anticipated to increase by a nominal 2% to £2734 million, more than offsetting the 1% decline recorded in the previous year. Prior to that, stronger growth of 8% was recorded in 2003, although this was preceded by two years of moderate declines. A stronger market development has been restricted during recent years, largely due to the continued decline in the UK manufacturing sector, although this has been somewhat offset by the buoyancy of the construction, distribution and warehousing sectors.

MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:

The UK mechanical lifting and handling equipment market is anticipated to demonstrate real term growth throughout the five year forecast period up to 2012, albeit at relatively modest levels. Overall, demand for mechanical lifting & handling equipment is forecast to increase by 7% in real terms between 2008 and 2012. Much of the growth is anticipated to arise from the relatively buoyant expectations in the UK construction sector, where annual real term increases of between 3% and 4% are forecast. Moreover, further growth in the distribution and warehousing sector is also anticipated, while the overall growth is expected to be somewhat restricted by the modest 1.75%-2.25% growth in manufacturing output during the early part of the forecast period.
