UK LABORATORY EQUIPMENT MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK laboratory equipment market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2000-2004:

The UK market for laboratory equipment (including supplies) fluctuated during the five year review period up to 2004. Apparent consumption declined by a nominal 10% in 2002 and by a further 10% in 2003. However, partial year data for 2004 indicates a 4% increase, taking demand for laboratory equipment to £2555.3 million. Despite evidence of increased R&D investment across the major industry sectors in the UK and government investment schemes, this has not been reflected by consistent value growth in demand for laboratory equipment market between 2000 and 2004.

MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009:

The UK market for laboratory equipment (including supplies) is anticipated to demonstrate real term growth during much of the five year forecast period up to 2009, partially reflecting government schemes to increase R&D investment. Annual growth levels are expected to remain relatively moderate at between 1% and 3%. Overall, UK demand for laboratory equipment (including supplies) is anticipated to increase by 5% in real terms over the next five years.
