UK IRON & STEEL CASTINGS MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

MARKET REVIEW 1999-2003:

The 5% overall decline in demand for iron and steel castings between 1999 and 2003, is partly due to product substitution in the automotive end users nd reduced levels of demand from other end use sectors due to difficulties in the manufacturing industry in general. Demand for low cost imports in recent years has also hampered development in the UK market. In 2003 the UK market for iron and steel castings is valued at 1 022 700 tonnes.

MARKET FORECAST 2004-2008:

Overall, MBD expect moderate fluctuations in the volume of the UK market for iron and steel castings between 2004 and 2008 with an overall 2% increase expected to take the volume of the market from 1 005 300 tonnes in 2004 to 1 025 200 tonnes in 2008.
