UK INDUSTRIAL GASES MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK industrial gases market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

The UK market for industrial gases is believed to have increased by 2% to £807.6 million in 2007. Growth has been recorded during each previous year of the review period with the exception of a marginal decline recorded in 2003. The strongest growth of 5% was recorded in 2005. Overall demand for industrial gases has increased by 10% between 2003 and 2007. The relatively moderate growth reflects increasing energy costs, and the introduction of environmental constraints.

MARKET FORECAST 2007-2011:

The UK industrial gases market is expected to decline moderately during the first two years of the forecast period. Restricted growth is anticipated for the remaining three years of the period ending in 2012. Overall sales of industrial gases are expected to increase by 1% in real terms compared with 2007, reaching a projected £815.5 million in 2012, at 2007 prices. Growth is expected to be hindered by a number of factors including the current uncertain economic circumstances, the rising energy and manufacturing costs and environmental restrictions. However it should be noted that any forecast made in the current set of conditions inevitably carries a greater level of uncertainty than would typically be the case.
