UK INDUSTRIAL FASTENERS MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK industrial fasteners market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

The UK market for industrial fasteners increased by an estimated 4% to £719.4 million in 2007. Prior to that stronger annual growth of 6% was recorded in 2004 and again in 2005. Demand for industrial fasteners has been largely boosted by a buoyant construction market during the review period. However, demand is believed to have moderated in a number of enduse sectors, most notably the automotive sector, as UK car production remained on a downward trend during much of the review period.

MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:

The UK market for industrial fasteners is anticipated to decline by 1% in real terms during 2008, reflecting the current slowdown in economic growth and more moderate output levels in the construction market. UK apparent consumption of fasteners is expected to increase between 2009 and 2012, although annual growth levels are not expected to exceed 2% in real terms. In 2012, the value of the market is forecast to reach £769.4 million (at 2007 prices), representing overall growth of 7% in real terms compared with 2007. Furthermore the globalisation of many manufacturing industries is also expected to restrict stronger growth in the market, due to the trend towards relocating production to lower cost countries.
