UK FOUNDATIONS MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK foundations market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

The value of the UK foundations market is estimated to have increased by 8% to £628.9 million in 2007, continuing the growth trend evident in recent years, which is largely attributable to the relatively buoyant UK construction and civil engineering market. Overall, the market is believed to have increased by a cumulative 28% between 2003 and 2007.

MARKET FORECAST 2007-2011:

The UK foundations market is expected to demonstrate real term growth throughout each year of the review period, with annual levels of growth oscillating between 4% and 6%. In 2012, a 5% increase is projected to take the value of the market to £793.1 million (at 2007 prices), also equivalent to cumulative growth of 26% compared with the latter year of the review period. Anticipated growth reflects the continued growth in construction output, notably in the commercial, housing and civil engineering sectors. MBD remains more positive about the prospects for the construction market than some commentators, reflecting the fact that many of the underlying drivers remain in place. There remains strong demand for housing, due to a supply and demand imbalance, there is a public commitment to developing affordable housing and public investment in sectors such as health and education is being boosted by increased private sector involvement. Interest rates remain historically modest and there is a consensus that 2008 will see further interest rates reductions.
