RELEASED: JUNE 2004 After researching the UK forgings, pressings & stampings market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: MARKET REVIEW 1998-2003: Demand for forgings, pressings and stampings declined in the first three years of the review period from £2180.4 million in 1999 to £2013.6 million in 2001. However demand is believed to have returned at 4% in 2002 followed by a further increase of 2% in 2003. In the latter year sales reached a value of £2134.3 million. The proportional importance of imports and exports is so small that the apparent consumption of forgings, pressings and stampings directly relates to changes in the value of UK production. MARKET FORECAST 2004-2008: Demand of forgings, pressings and stampings is expected to increase in the first two years of the forecast period. However, MBD believe that the trend for the remaining years of the review period will be one of decline albeit, of a negligible level in each year. The value of sales in 2008 is expected to reach a level of £2240.4 million, representing an anticipated overall increase of 3% despite forecasted declines towards the end of the review period.
