UK ELECTRICITY SUPPLY & DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK electricity supply & distribution market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2002/03-2006/07:

MBD believe capital expenditure by the DNOs in the UK increased in every year under review, reaching £1298.8 million (net of contributions) in 2006/07. Annual growth rates fluctuated between 3% and 9% throughout the period under review, culminating in an overall increase of 29%. The need to extend the existing network to meet increasing demand is driving investment upwards.

MARKET FORECAST 2007/08-2011/12:

MBD believe UK capital expenditure on the electricity distribution networks will increase year on year reaching a peak of £1436.7 million in 2011/12 (at 2006/07 prices). This is equivalent to a real term increase of 11% compared with 2006/07. Annual growth rates are projected to oscillate between 1% and 3%.
