UK DEFENCE EQUIPMENT MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK defence equipment market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2002/2003-2006/2007:

Defence Departmental Expenditure Limits (DEL) (at full resource basis) on defence is believed to have increased by 2% in the financial year 2006/07 to £33.9 billion, consolidating the trend for growth recorded in previous years. Defence has accounted for the third largest proportion of total DEL throughout the five year review period. In 2002/03, defence accounted for 12% of total DEL. However, in 2006/07, the proportional importance of the sector is believed to have declined moderately to 11%.

MARKET FORECAST 2007/08-2011/12:

Total DEL is anticipated to demonstrate year on year growth between 2007/08 and 2011/12, culminating in an overall increase of 30% to £416.7 million in the latter year (at current prices).

Defence DEL as a proportion of total DEL is forecast to decline during the majority of the five years to 2011/12 from a peak of 9.5% in 2007/08 to a low of 9.3% in 2011/12, equivalent to £38.9 million ( at current prices).
