UK COMPRESSORS MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK compressors market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2001-2005:

The UK market for compressors has proved difficult in recent years, reflecting the difficulties faced within the UK engineering sector. MBD believe a moderate 2% decline will take demand to £959.2 million in 2005, fully negating the 2% growth recorded in the previous year. Prior to this sales of compressors declined by 8% between 2001 and 2003, to £961.2 million in the latter year.

MARKET FORECAST 2006-2010:

The UK market for compressors is expected to demonstrate moderate real term growth throughout the forecast period. MBD believe market sales will reach £992.6 million in 2010, equivalent to an overall 3% increase in real terms compared with the current year. Market conditions are expected to remain difficult due to little growth expected in the engineering sector, a strong pound Sterling and increased competition from low cost countries. End users are also placing continued pressure on prices and this is expected to continue to restrict the value development of the market.
